This publication provides an overview of the geology, climate, water resources, flora and fauna, human history, ecosystem services, and natural resource management issues associated with human development of the Sierra Nevada. It also provides an increased understanding of the Sierra Nevada’s natural communities and the conservation challenges presented by a long history of land use, fire suppression, and resource extraction.
